Located in the county of Collin, TX, we were
organized in 1975 by a group of amateurs who had a strong desire to serve their community and provide emergency communications.

The primary function of Collin County Amateur Radio Emergency Services or CCARES, is to support our Served Agencies. The agencies we support, but not limited to are The National Weather Service, The Red Cross, Homeland Security and The Department of Health Services.

2019 Allen Preparedness Expo 9/14/2019

September is National Preparedness Month and, as usual, we celebrate by hosting the annual Allen Preparedness Expo. Several community-based and professional organizations such as AFD, COP, CFA, and Animal Control will bring their exhibits. This year, we are thrilled to welcome Team Rubicon to the event! This is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the general public.

Stop by Lowe’s Home Improvement, September 14th, 09:00 – 12:00 (Time changedto learn what you can do to prepare yourself, your family, and your business for a disaster, and see what resources and services are provided for you in the City of Allen. There will be activities for kids and adults.

Exhibits include:

  • Allen Community Emergency Response Team
  • Amateur Radio organizations
  • Allen Animal Shelter (Animal Control)
  • Allen Police Department
  • Citizens on Patrol (COP)
  • Citizens Fire Academy
  • Allen Fire Department
  • Team Rubicon

Thank you to everyone that attended (~300).  We appreciate your patience with the shutdown, the "lack of" elbow room like we would normally have, and the change of venue.

The presenters did a great job at bringing all the information down to a level that the beginner and the novice were able to understand.  Thank you to everyone that presented, organizations that provided information at the tables, registration, the NWS Forth Worth, Collin College, and Collin County Office of Emergency Management for the sponsorship.

We will look at the third week of January for the 2020 training date.
